Uninstalling Self Service +

Description

Self Service+ is the default end user application in Jamf Pro, providing users with access to apps, configurations, and security status from a single interface. In some cases, there may be a need to completely uninstall Self Service+ from user devices This article outlines the steps required to uninstall Self Service+ from both Mac computers and mobile devices.

Uninstalling Self Service + from Computers and Devices

Step 1: Disable Self Service+ in Jamf Pro

  1. In Jamf Pro, navigate to Settings > Jamf Apps > Self Service+.

  2. Uncheck "Use Self Service+ as the default end user application".

  3. Click Save.

Step 2: Apply the Change

Once the setting has been saved, Self Service+ will uninstall automatically the next time the device receives the updated configuration from Jamf Pro.

  • Computers: Run the following command in Terminal to trigger the change immediately:

    sudo jamf policy

    Alternatively, allow the Mac to check in naturally on its recurring schedule.

  • Mobile Devices: The sudo jamf policy command cannot be run on mobile devices. To apply the change, either allow the device to check in naturally, or prompt an immediate check-in by sending an MDM command from Jamf Pro:

    1. In Jamf Pro, navigate to Devices > Mobile Devices.

    2. Select the device record for the target device.

    3. Click Management Commands.

    4. Send an Update Inventory command to prompt the device to check in with Jamf Pro.

    5. Self Service+ will uninstall automatically once the device checks in and receives the updated configuration.
