Description
If a shared iPad becomes disconnected from Wi-Fi it can get stuck at the login screen, preventing access to settings or reconfiguration. This article provides steps to reconnect the device.
Reconnecting to a Network on the Shared iPad
If a Shared iPad is stuck at the login screen due to a lost Wi-Fi connection, try the options below to reconnect:
Double or triple-click the Home or Lock button on the login screen to see if the Wi-Fi connection screen appears.
If the Wi-Fi connection screen appears, reconnect the iPad to the appropriate Wi-Fi network.
Share a Wi-Fi connection from a Mac:
Follow the instructions in Apple's guide to share the Wi-Fi connection from a nearby Mac.
To confirm if there is a problem with the Wi-Fi profile or this is an isolated incident, set up a new Shared iPad and check if it connects successfully.
If the new setup works fine, the issue may be isolated to the original configuration.
If the issue persists, restore the iPad via recovery mode following Apple’s recovery mode guide. The iPad will enroll in Jamf School again after going throug the Setup Assistant if it is assigned to an Automated Device Enrollment profile in Jamf School.
Note: Restoring the iPad will wipe all user data. Proceed with caution if using this method.
