Internet Tethering on locked iPads with no Network Connection in Jamf School

Updated over 3 months ago

Description

When an iPad Passcode is forgotten, there is a Jamf School command (Clear Passcode) that can be used to clear the passcode of the iPad allowing the end user to get back in and set a new Passcode. However, if the device loses battery charge, or is power cycled, the device will lose Network Connection, preventing Jamf School from delivering this Clear Passcode command. This guide is designed to go over steps that can be taken to allow a device to tether an Internet Connection from a Mac to receive the Clear Passcode command from Jamf School, regardless of settings on the device that might otherwise prevent the iPad from connecting to computers.
