Description
A valid Jamf Connect license must be present on computers in order for Jamf Connect to function. This license is valid for one year. While there are multiple ways it can be deployed, Jamf Support recommends:
Having the license key in it its own profile, separate from the other Jamf Connect configurations.
Using the 'Copy license content to Clipboard' option in Jamf Account to create the license profile in Jamf Pro.
This article describes how to create a new license configuration profile in Jamf Pro.
Note - In this article, Jamf Connect refers to settings configured with the com.jamf.connect preference domain. It applies to Jamf Connect versions 2.x as well as the Self Service+ menu bar and/or Self Service+ Account management dashboard.
Creating the License Configuration Profile in Jamf Pro
In Jamf Pro, go to Computers > Configuration Profiles and click New.
In the General payload:
give your profile a name
fill out the description
assign a category
Select the Application & Custom Settings payload and choose Jamf Applications.
Click the Add button in the upper-right corner.
In the first Jamf Applications box, select the preference domain com.jamf.connect.
Select whatever is the latest version of the preference domain. LicenseFile is a common key that has existed since the beginning so it will still work if you're distributing an older copy of Jamf Connect.
For Variant select the JamfConnect.json schema built into Jamf Pro.
Click the Add/Remove properties option and uncheck PROPERTY to remove all the keys. Scroll down and check the box for the LicenseFile and click Apply.
Open a new tab in your web browser and go to Jamf Account.
Log in with your Jamf ID and go to Solutions.
Click View details for Jamf Connect.
On the Overview tab, click Copy license content to Clipboard.
Return to the tab with Jamf Pro and paste the license file key copied from Jamf Account into the License File field.
Click Scope and add computers using Jamf Connect to the Scope.
Click Save.
