Jamf Pro Activation Code Expiration - Expected Consequences

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Question

What impact does an expired activation code have on Jamf Pro functionality?

Answer

The Activation Code for a Jamf Pro server authenticates the organization that the server is licensed to and validates that there is a current license/subscription available. When the Activation Code expires, the primary consequence is that other subscribed services (as defined under Cloud Services Connection) may no longer fully function.

This may not be a complete shut down of the services; for example, packages that have already been uploaded to the Jamf Cloud Distribution Point (JCDS) may still continue to be deployed to computers, but the admin may not be able to upload new packages until the Activation Code is renewed.

In addition, changes to the organization may not be recognized (for example, a new primary technical contact that was added after the Activation Code expired would not be able to use their Jamf ID to update credentials under the Cloud Services Connection until the Activation Code was renewed). When discussing updating credentials in the Cloud Services Connection, please ensure you fully understand the concept.
