Update the Activation Code in Jamf Pro

Description

Previously, the activation code used to have to be updated in Jamf Pro every time a new one is generated for an instance. Jamf Pro now uses a new backend service for license management, replacing the previous activation code functionality.

License information will continue to show in Jamf Pro under Settings > System > Licensing Information. However the activation code will not longer be present in Jamf Pro for most organizations.

This functionality is not available for environments hosted on-premise or in Jamf GovCloud Premium Cloud Plus.

Copying/Pasting the new activation code from Jamf Account

  1. Log into Jamf Account at https://account.jamf.com/login with a valid Jamf ID that is tied to your organization.

  2. Click Solutions and then select View Details for Jamf Pro.

  3. Click the Licenses tab to find the activation code.

    • If it is the start of your subscription date and no activation code is showing for your production or sandbox instance, please reach out to your Account team.

  4. Click the Copy symbol to the right of the activation code.

  5. Sign into Jamf Pro and go to Settings > System > Licensing Information.

  6. Click Edit in the bottom-right and then paste the copied code from Jamf Account into section the Activation Code field.

  7. Click Save in the bottom-right. The activation code has now been updated.

If a new activation code is not showing in Jamf Account

Scenario 1: Renewal complete prior to renewal date

  • Your activation code no longer is available right after signing the purchase agreement. It will be visible in Jamf Account at the 4:00 AM CST on the purchase date.

Scenario 2: Subscription expired without renewal

  • If your Jamf subscription expires, you will no longer have anything showing in Jamf Account under Solutions. Contact your Account team for assistance to complete your renewal.
