Issue Description
When users attempt to access YouTube through Google Classroom, they receive the error: "Sorry, you can't access YouTube for Mobile Web with your account." This occurs when YouTube attempts to redirect to a browser (such as Safari) that is restricted on the device.
The steps below help identify whether the issue comes from account restrictions, web content filtering, or browser allow list settings.
Troubleshooting Steps
Test in a browser instead of the Google Classroom app. Have the user open YouTube directly in a browser rather than through the Google Classroom application. If the issue does not persist, the problem is isolated to the in-app browser behavior.
Test with a different account or device. Ask the user to sign in with a different account or try the steps on a separate device. Account-level restrictions configured in the Google Admin console can prevent access for specific users.
Check web content filter restrictions. Review any active Safe Internet or Web Content Filter payloads assigned to the device. These payloads may be blocking YouTube or the redirect URL.
Verify browsers are on the allow list. Confirm that the browser YouTube is attempting to redirect to, such as Safari or Google Chrome is allowed on the device. If the browser is restricted, the redirect will fail and trigger this error.
