Description
Starting with macOS 26.4, Apple Silicon Macs periodically display a notification when users launch Intel-based applications, alerting them that the app relies on Rosetta 2. For organizations still managing Intel hardware or legacy applications, this creates unnecessary friction.
The Restrictions component in a Jamf Pro blueprint gives a straightforward way to suppress these notifications across managed devices.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, confirm the following:
You meet the requirements for blueprints outlined here.
You have a Smart Group or Static Group containing the computers that you want to suppress the notification on.
Blocking Rosetta Usage Notifications with Jamf Pro Blueprints
Follow these steps to create a blueprint using the Restrictions component and enable the appropriate setting to suppress Rosetta deprecation notifications.
In Jamf Pro, navigate to Blueprints and click Create Blueprint.
Click where it reads Untitled blueprint and provide a descriptive name.
Click where it says Describe what this blueprint is used for. and add a description.
Scroll through the component library or use the search to locate the Restrictions component. Click on the component to open it for editing.
Use the search feature to find the
allowRosettaUsageAwarenesssetting. Check the box to enable it and choose false to disable Rosetta usage awareness.Click Add.
Click on the Scope tile of the blueprint and check the box for the desired groups.
For best results, scope this to a group targeting your remaining Intel Macs or any Macs still running Intel-based applications.
Click Save.
Review your blueprint configuration and confirm the Restrictions component is in place and the scope is set correctly.
Click the Deploy button to push the blueprint to your scoped devices.
Verifying Deployment
To confirm the blueprint has been applied on a managed device:
On the managed computer, open System Settings and go to General > Device Management.
Locate the MDM enrollment profile and double-click it.
Scroll to the Device Declarations section at the bottom of the profile window.
You should see the Restrictions declaration listed, confirming the blueprint settings are active on the device.
