Jamf School Volume Purchased Books Deployment for iOS

Issue Description

eBooks purchased through Apple School Manager (ASM) are not deploying correctly to student devices when managed through Jamf School.

Note: Jamf School currently doesn't support deploying Volume Purchasing books to macOS devices

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Ensure a V1 token for user-based assignment is uploaded into Jamf School.

    1. Create a new location within Apple School Manager (ASM) to generate a V1 service token.

    2. Refer to Apple’s workflow for configuring locations in ASM: Apple School Manager - Configure Locations

      Note: When uploading the V1 token to Jamf School as a new, secondary token, ensure that you select the Upload service token for user assignments only checkbox on the Add Service Token pop-up dialog.

  2. Verify our User(s) appear under the Users section in Jamf School and show an “Associated” status for Volume Purchasing Status

  3. Ensure the device is assigned to the student user within Jamf School.

  4. Ensure the student is signed into their Apple ID on the device.
