Description
This article explains the recent releases of Self Service+ 2.9.0 and 2.9.2 and clarifies action needed by Jamf Pro administrators using the auto-deploy option for Self Service+ in Jamf Pro.
Self Service+ 2.9.0
Self Service+ 2.9.0 was briefly made available on September 23, 2025 before being removed and 2.8.0 was listed as the generally available version again.
Organizations using the auto-deploy option for Self Service+ in Jamf Pro may have had managed computers install 2.9.0, which in some instances led to repeated attempts to reinstall Self Service+ 2.8.0 on managed computers and Self Service+ crashing.
Note - Prior to the release of 2.9.2, the recommendation was to uninstall Self Service+. Those steps are still available below however are no longer needed to remediate this issue.
Uninstalling Self Service+
Uninstalling Self Service+
We can use a policy in Jamf Pro to deploy the Self Service+ uninstaller to remove Self Service+ 2.9.0.
Download the uninstaller from Jamf Account.
Sign in to Jamf Account.
Go to Solutions > Add-Ons and select View details for Self Service+.
Click Download for the Self Service+ Uninstaller 2.8.0.
Upload the package to Jamf Pro.

Create a Smart Computer Group to target computers with Self Service+ 2.9.0 installed.
In Jamf Pro go to Computers > Smart Computer Groups and click New.
Name the group Computers with Self Service+ 2.9.0.
On the Criteria payload, click Add.
Click Show Advanced Criteria and click Add for Application Title.
Click the ... and select Self Service+.app from the options.
Click Add > Show Advanced Criteria again and click Add for Application Version.
Type 2.9.0 as the version.
Click Save.
Example of Smart Group:
Create a policy in Jamf Pro to deploy the package to the Smart Group.
In Jamf Pro go to Computers > Policies and click New.
On the General payload:
Give your policy a name.
Trigger: Recurring check in
Execution frequency: Once per computer
Select the Packages payload and click Configure.
Click Add for the Self Service+ uninstaller package.
Click Scope and add the Smart Computer Group created in step 3.
Click Save.
Self Service+ 2.9.2
Self Service+ 2.9.2 was released on September 25, 2025 and is now the generally available version. Self Service+ 2.9.2 will install automatically seamlessly over either 2.8 or 2.9.0. No action is needed on your part.
