Duplicate or Missing Users When Syncing with Apple School Manager

Issue Description

When syncing users from Apple School Manager (ASM) to Jamf School, duplicate users or missing users may appear due to incorrect sync settings.

  • Duplicate users may occur if outdated or removed users are not cleared during the sync process.

  • Missing users can result from incorrect sync configurations or unassigned users in Apple School Manager.

Troubleshooting Steps

For Duplicate Users:

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Organization > Settings.

  2. Under the Apple School Manager section, select the email listed to access sync settings.

  3. Check the box for "Remove users that are no longer in ASM" to automatically remove duplicate users during the sync.

For Missing Users:

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Organization > Settings.

  2. Under the Apple School Manager section, select the email listed to access sync settings.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the sync settings page and review the location sync drop-downs.

    • Ensure that the locations containing staff and students in Apple School Manager are selected to sync with Jamf School.

  4. Verify in Apple School Manager that students are assigned to classes, as only assigned students will sync.
