Unable to Update Device Name in Jamf School

Description

If you're unable to update a device's name in Jamf School, it may be due to the device not being supervised. Remote name changes require supervision, which is not granted through on-device enrollment.

Supervising Devices

To enable supervision and allow remote name changes, the device must either be

  • erased and re-enrolled using Automated Device Enrollment or

  • supervised using Apple Configurator 2 (which will also erase the device) and then re-enrolled.
