Issue Description
The device didn't enroll in Jamf School using Automated Device Enrollment. Possible behaviors include:
No Remote Management screen in the Setup Assistant
Seeing the error “The configuration could not be downloaded... cancelled” during the Setup Assistant
Troubleshooting Steps
Check the status of the Automated Device Enrollment token in Jamf School: Organization > Settings > Automated Device Enrollment.
If there is no token, integrate with Apple School Manager.
If the token is expired or there is a syncing error, renew the token.
Verify that the device serial number shows in Devices > Automated Device Enrollment.
If the device is not listed here, assign it to the Jamf School MDM server in Apple School Manager.
In Jamf School, under Devices > Automated Device Enrollment, ensure the device status shows as either "Profile Assigned" or "Profile Pushed".
If it shows as "No Profile Assigned," assign an Automated Device Enrollment profile to that device. To do so in Devices > Automated Device Enrollment: select the device, click Assign Profile, select the desired profile, and click Save.
Wipe the device to be able to go through Automated Device Enrollment in the Setup Assistant again. Even if there were no changes made in steps 1-3, it is still worth resetting the device to attempt the enrollment again. Devices may have been setup prior to the profile assignment (Step 3) taking place which could have caused enrollment to fail.
To erase iOS or iPadOS devices:
If possible on the device, go to Settings > General > Reset and choose Erase all Content and Settings.
If stuck in the Setup Assistant, use Recovery Mode to restore the device
Go through the Setup Assistant once more (be sure to choose Setup Manually and Do Not Transfer Apps on the Apps and Data screen if prompted).
