Auto-Enrollment in Jamf Now

Description

Once your blueprints are setup, you can enroll devices. Automated Device Enrollment, using Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager, allows you to automatically download Jamf Now management settings to hardware immediately upon activation.

This article provides the steps to enroll devices using Auto-Enrollment.

Enrolling Devices in Jamf Now with Auto-Enrollment

  1. Setup Auto-Enrollment and APNs if they haven't been done yet.

    • If you see a green check mark next to them in Jamf Now, skip to the next step.

  2. If you haven't done so already, designate which Setup Assistant steps you want devices to pass through during activation.

  3. Assign devices to the Jamf Now MDM server in Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager if it hasn't been done already.

    1. in Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager, click Devices.

    2. Select the device(s) you want to change assignments for.

    3. If the device does not show up in the list of devices, you can add it to Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager using Apple Configurator.

    4. Click Edit MDM Server.

    5. Click Assign to the following MDM.

    6. Click the pop up box and choose the Jamf Now MDM server.

    7. Click Continue and then click Continue again.

  4. In Jamf Now, the devices assigned to the token will show under Auto-Enrollment > View Devices.

    • If they are not, click Sync Devices.

  5. Once the device shows in the list we can enroll the device.

    • Computers:

    • iPhones or iPads:

      • For new devices: turn on the device, connect to a network when prompted and go through the setup assistant to enroll.

      • For already setup devices: the device will need to be erased to go through the setup again. Some options for erasing are:

        • From the device itself: Erase all Content and Settings in the Settings app under General > Transfer and Reset.
