How to Undo a Sent Command and Clear the Activity Log in Jamf School

Updated over a month ago

Description

If a command is sent to a device but hasn't been processed yet on the device, we can clear the activity log of pending commands to effectively cancel/undo the command. This can be useful if a command, such as an erase command, was mistakenly sent to devices.

The steps show how to clear pending commands in bulk or individually to prevent unintended actions from processing.

Please note - this will clear all pending commands. If there are specific commands that were cancelled that are still needed, check the activity log to see if they regenerate or if you need to manually process the command again.

Clearing the Activity Log for Multiple Devices

  1. In Jamf School go to Devices > Inventory.

  2. Use the checkboxes next to the devices for which you want to undo the command.

  3. Click on the More menu at the top of the page and from the dropdown, select Clear Activity Log to remove any pending commands.

  4. Click Clear to confirm you want to take the action.

  5. Ensure that the activity log is cleared and that no further actions are pending for the selected devices.

Clearing the Activity Log for one Device

  1. Open the device record from Devices > Inventory.

  2. Click on Activity Log.

  3. Click theto clear the log.
