Deploy Jamf Pro Self Service Notifications to Specific Users

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Description

This article provides steps to deploy two manually created configuration profiles to enforce Self Service Notifications or to give the end user the ability to toggle them off/on rather than using the automatically deployed configuration profile for Self Service Notifications under Settings > Computer Management > Security > Automatically install a Jamf Notifications profile > Jamf management framework and Self Service.

Configuring Profiles to Enforce Self Service Notifications

Note: To make sure all computers are not able to turn off Self Service notifications, please leave the Jamf management framework and Self Service setting checked until the following configuration profiles have been created and scoped.

Configuration Profile - Self Service Notifications

  1. In Jamf Pro, navigate to Computers > Configuration Profiles > + New.

  2. Give the Configuration Profile a name such as "1 - Jamf Notifications - Self Service".

  3. Select the Notifications payload then click + Add.

  4. In the Bundle ID field, input the following: com.jamfsoftware.selfservice.mac

  5. Replicate the automatic profile by turning on the following Notifications toggles:

    a. Allow notifications to be displayed for this app - on (Enable)

    b. Banner alert type: Persistent - on

    c. Notifications on Lock Screen - on (Display)

    d. Notifications in Notifications Center - on (Display)

    e. Badge app icon - on (Display)

  6. Scope this profile to All computers except the computers that want to configure their own notifications.

Configuration Profile - Management Framework

.

  2. Give the Configuration Profile a name such as "2 - Jamf Notifications - Management Framework"
