Can I disable Apple Intelligence with Jamf Now?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Description

Apple announced the release of Apple Intelligence and has been rolling out the various pieces starting in iOS/iPadOS 18, and macOS 15. Apple does permit disabling some Apple Intelligence features, and each incremental update adds more.

To find which Apple Intelligence features Apple is currently allowing to be disabled, please consult MDM restrictions for iPhone and iPad devices in the Apple Platform Deployment documentation.

Note: There are not any options built into Jamf Now blueprints to disable Apple Intelligence features, but this can be done by creating a Custom Profile created in either iMazing Profile Editor or Configurator for Mac.

Disabling Apple Intelligence With a Custom Profile

Follow the steps below to create and deploy a custom profile to disable Apple Intelligence features on devices managed by Jamf Now.

  1. Download iMazing Profile Editor (if not yet installed): https://imazing.com/profile-editor

  2. In iMazing Profile Editor, search for the Restrictions payload and select it.

  3. Click the + Add Configuration Payload button.

  4. Under the General tab of the Restrictions payload, find the relevant Apple Intelligence restrictions from the Platform Deployment Guide and change the check boxes to disable desired features.

  5. Under the Other tab of the Restrictions payload, find the relevant Apple Intelligence restrictions from the Platform Deployment Guide link above and and change the check boxes to disable.

  6. Save the profile using File > Save. Do not sign the profile in iMazing.

  7. Upload to a test blueprint first in Jamf Now. For assistance see Deploying Custom Profiles with Jamf Now.
