Adding Safari to a Jamf School dock profile

Updated over 2 months ago

Description

We can use a dock profile to add specific apps to docks on managed devices using Jamf School. This article specifically covers how to add Safari to a Jamf School dock profile as Apple has moved where Safari.app is located on the OS (it used to be in /Applications).

Adding Safari to a Jamf School Dock Profile

  1. Create a profile for macOS following the steps below (or open your existing dock profile and go to step 2)

    1. In Jamf School, go to Profiles > Overview.

    2. Click + Create Profile in the upper-right corner.

    3. Select macOS and Device Enrollment, then click Next.

    4. Give the profile a name and click Next.

    5. Click Finish.

  2. Select the Dock payload (and click Configure if it is a new profile).

  3. Click the + button for Dock Apps and add the following path: /System/Volumes/Preboot/Cryptexes/App/System/Applications/Safari.app

  4. Click Save.

  5. Click Scope, adjust as needed, click Save.
