Updated over a month ago

Description

This article provides steps on configuring a Dock profile for computers with Jamf School.

macOS Dock Configuration Setup with Jamf School profiles

  1. Login to Jamf School and click Profiles > Overview.

  2. Click Create Profile, select macOS and Device Enrollment.

  3. Name the Profile, click Next, enable a Time Filter if needed, and click Finish.

  4. Select the Dock payload, click Configure, and customize the settings needed here as desired.

  5. Click the + button for the 'Docks App' section.

  6. Add the full path for the application to the 'Dock Apps' field. For example, the file path to the Calendar App would be: /System/Applications/Calendar.app.

    • If you are unsure of the app file path:

      1. Open Terminal on a computer.

      2. Find the application in the Finder's folder and drag the Application into terminal. This will produce the app file path that can be entered into the Jamf School profile.

      3. If the Application path has a space, terminal will show a \ prior to the space. For the configuration profile remove the \.

        • Example: Google chrome will appear as /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app in terminal but the file path in the profile should be /Applications/Google Chrome.app

  7. Once all the items are added to the Dock, click Save.

  8. Scope the profile to desired devices.

  9. Click Save.

Note - when the path isn't setup correctly the Dock will show a question mark on the end user's machine.
