Issue Description

How to schedule automatic email reports in Jamf Pro and send them to a specific channel in Slack

Troubleshooting Steps

Requirements: Need to have a working SMTP server configuration in Jamf Pro under Settings > System > SMTP Server.

  1. Create a new Slack Channel

    1. From the sidebar, click the + plus icon next to Channels and select Create a channel

    2. Give the channel a name. Add a description, choose a channel type (Public or Private), or check the box to share the channel outside of your company.

    3. Click Create and add people to the channel.

  2. Create the integration for Slack using the Email app integration

    1. Add the Email app integration to Slack

    2. Select the channel that should be used to receive the report and click 'Add Email Integration'

    3. Configure the Integration Settings. Adding a Descriptive Label, Customize the name and add a custom icon if required. On this page, the email that will be used to post to Slack will also be shown. Copy the email for use in Jamf Pro later.

    4. One the integration is created, you will see a notification in the Slack channel

  3. Create an Advanced Computer Search

    1. Navigate to Jamf Pro > Computers > Search Inventory > Advanced Computer Search

    2. Give this Advanced Computer Search a Display Name

    3. Add the required criteria for the report

    4. Customize the Display options for the report

    5. On the Reports tab configure the Email reporting. Add the email from the Slack integration. This will post anything sent to this email to the configured Slack channel. Set the recurrence for the automatic email reporting (Time displayed here will be in UTC)

  4. Verify that the report has been sent to the Slack channel
