Student Photo's Do Not Appear on Shared iPads Managed by Jamf School

Issue Description

After uploading student photos to Jamf School, shared iPads do not update to show the student's photos and instead just show the users initials. This is due to the device's EDU profile not containing the users' pictures.

Troubleshooting Steps

To resolve this, a new EDU profile needs to be pushed to the device which will contain the images. There are multiple options to do that:

  • Create a new class manually in Jamf School, assign all users that are affected by this issue to this class (recommended for multiple devices affected). Then delete the class once student images appear on devices.

  • Unassign the device from a class and reassign.

  • As a general rule, any change in a class, like adding a new user, or removing one, will re-push a fresh EDU profile to all devices tied to this class with the updated information.
