Description
Lifetime licenses, also known as perpetual licenses, can be assigned to devices in Jamf School manually or automatically when enrolled on an Automated Device Enrollment profile with the setting enabled.
Automatically Assign Lifetime Licenses via Automated Device Enrollment
In the Automated Device Enrollment profile under General > Assign License, check the box for When available, automatically assigns a perpetual license to any device with this Automated Device Enrollment profile during enrollment.
Once the device enrolls, the lifetime license will automatically be assigned to the device as long as there are lifetime licenses remaining.
⚠️ Lifetime licenses cannot be transferred to another once assigned. Be careful when using the Automated Device Enrollment profile option to ensure only devices that should receive the license are assigned this profile.
Manually through License Management
In Jamf School click License Management at the bottom of the left sidebar.
Click License Assignments in the License Overview section.
This will bring you to a list of devices.
If helpful, use the License Type Filter option to display devices that do not have an assigned license, or are on a recurring license.
Check box for the device(s) to which you want to assign a lifetime license.
Click Assign perpetual license.
Manually through Devices > Placeholders
After a device CSV has been uploaded into Jamf School, navigate to Devices > Placeholders.
Check the box for the device(s) to which you want to assign a lifetime license.
Click Assign perpetual license.
Manually through Devices > Automated Device Enrollment
Check the box for the device(s) to which you want to assign a lifetime license.
Click Assign perpetual license.
