Creating managed configurations for apps in Jamf School

Updated over 2 months ago

Description

Managed app configurations allow MDM solutions to remotely deliver data to a managed device which can be used by the app to customize the user experience or app behavior. Check with the app developer to see if the app allows managed configurations and what the values are. For example Facebook and Twitter have their own developer documentation on how to create managed configurations.

Adding Managed App Configurations

To enable a managed configuration for an app in Jamf School:

  1. In Jamf School go to Apps > Inventory and select the app.

  2. Click Show Advanced Options at the bottom of the Options box.

  3. Check the box to enable Apply Managed Configuration.

  4. Enter in the configured property list into the new XML box.

  5. Click the Settings icon to select the Group(s) to receive the managed configuration.

  6. Click Save.

Notes about Managed Configurations in Jamf School

  • You can create multiple managed configurations by selecting Add New in the bottom-left corner of the Managed Configuration box

  • If a device is in multiple scopes, it'll use the managed configuration of the scope that was initially selected

  • If the app is scoped by a teacher, it will pick the default managed configuration; if no default is set, it will not use a managed configuration
