Description
Apple and Jamf School offer lost mode for locating mobile devices. However lost mode is not available for macOS devices. The only option for to locate a misplaced or stolen MacBook is is to use Find My, if it was enabled on the device.
If you suspect unauthorized access, you can check the device's status in Jamf School and lock it if necessary.
Lock Quick Action Command
To prevent unauthorized access to the MacBook, a lock command can be sent.
In Jamf School go to Devices > Inventory.
Select the misplaced MacBook from the list.
Under Quick Actions, select Lock Device.
The lock pin code will display within the Activity log of the device for 30 days. This information is not stored in the Jamf School Audit log.
Future suggested workflow: If you believe it is going to be more than 30 days before you can unlock the device, we suggest entering the lock code into the Notes of the device details for future reference.
