Configuring Auto-Lock Settings on Student iPads in Jamf School

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Description

We can use the maximum auto-lock setting on a Jamf School device profile to ensure that the auto-lock feature cannot be set to Never.

Note: The auto-lock configuration in Jamf School defines the maximum time allowed for auto-lock but does not set a fixed duration. Students can still choose any time below the configured maximum

Setting Maximum Auto-Lock

To set a maximum auto-lock time and remove the "Never" option:

  1. In Jamf School go to Profiles > Overview and either select the a profile with the passcode payload configured already or create a new iOS profile.

  2. Select the Passcode payload (and for new profiles click Configure).

  3. Under "Maximum Auto-Lock" choose the longest auto-lock time you want to be available to users. This configuration allows students to choose intervals between 1 minute and 1 hour, but does not allow the "Never" option.

This image shows the passcode payload of a device profile in Jamf School. The drop down menu for the maximum auto-lock setting is open showing the possible options to choose.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Click Scope and ensure desired device groups are in scope. Click Save if changes are made.
