Description
This article explains how to change bluetooth state and restrict bluetooth modification using a Jamf School device profile.
Turning Device Bluetooth On/Off
A. For a single device this is possible in the device overview with the Turn Bluetooth on/off button:
Navigate to Devices > Inventory and click into the desired device.
In the device record under Quick Actions, click Turn Bluetooth on/off.
B. It is also possible to do this in bulk:
In Jamf School, go to Devices > Inventory and select the desired devices using the checkboxes on the left.
Click More to load the Device Management Actions.
Click Bluetooth and select Enable or Disable.
Restricting Bluetooth Access
With the "turn Bluetooth on" option, students will be able to turn off Bluetooth themselves again. Modification of the Bluetooth settings can be managed via profile.
In Jamf School, go to Profiles > Overview.
Choose an existing profile with the Restrictions payload or create a new one following the steps below:
a. Click Create Profile, select iOS, choose Device Enrollment, and click Next.
b. Give the profile a name, click Next, and click Finish.
Select the Restrictions payload (and click Configure if you created a new profile).
Uncheck the box for Allow modifications to Bluetooth settings (including pairing new devices) to restrict students from changing the Bluetooth state.
Adjust the scope of the profile as needed.
Click Save.
