What to do when apps do not appear in Jamf Pro

Updated over 2 months ago

Issue Description

Apps from Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager are not appearing in Jamf Pro under Devices > Mobile Device Apps or Computers > Mac Apps.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Confirm you received the email from Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager confirming the app licenses were maintained.

  2. Check the status of the VPP token in Jamf Pro under Settings > General > Volume Purchasing.

    1. Renew the token if it is expired or has a syncing error message and then try to sync again to see if the app shows.

  3. Add the app manually to Jamf Pro.

    • Mobile Device Apps

      1. In Jamf Pro, go to Devices > Mobile Device Apps and click +New.

      2. Select App Store app or apps purchased in volume and click Next.

      3. Search the app name and click Add next to the app we are looking for.

      4. The app record will load; check the settings to ensure the app is configured for deployment as desired, including:

        1. Distribution Method

        2. Managed Distribution - check the box to Assign Content Purchased in Volume (if it doesn't show: confirm the Site assigned under General has the VPP token the licenses are assigned to and/or you may need to wait for Jamf Pro to sync with Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager)

      5. Click Scope and add desired devices to the Scope.

      6. Click Save.

    • Mac Apps

      1. In Jamf Pro, go to Computers > Mac Apps > App Store and click +New.

      2. Select Mac App Store and click Next.

      5. Click Scope and add desired Computers to the Scope.

      6. Click Save.
