Jamf Pro and LDAP Server Information Synchronization

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Issue Description

Clarification Regarding Jamf Pro and LDAP Server information synchronization behavior

Troubleshooting Steps

Users Assigned to Managed Devices

For users assigned to managed devices ('User and Location' section of Inventory Record), the Jamf Pro Server will reach out to the LDAP server to collect information at the time of Inventory Update when these options are enabled:

  1. Settings > Computer Management > Inventory Collection > 'Collect user and location information from LDAP'

  2. Settings > Device Management > Inventory Collection > 'Collect user and location information from LDAP'

Users Not Assigned to Managed Devices

If some individuals do not utilize a managed Apple device, the main considerations would be for their entries (if any) in the 'Jamf Pro User Accounts & Groups' section of Jamf Pro.

The information in the 'Jamf Pro User Accounts & Groups' section is 'pulled' from the LDAP at the time the 'Jamf Pro User Accounts & Groups' user is created. The information can be updated manually after the fact in the 'Jamf Pro User Accounts & Groups' section of the Jamf Pro Console.
