Description
There is no built-in way to mass add users from a CSV template, but they can be added using the MUT utility.
Mass add users into Jamf Pro using the MUT
Note: "Allow Basic authentication in addition to Bearer Token authentication" must be enabled under Settings > System > User Accounts And Groups > Password policy. MUT uses basic auth in V 6.0 but this may change in future releases of the MUT.
Open MUT (https://jssmut.weebly.com/), fill in the URL and enter a local Jamf Pro admin account.
Click Download CSV templates.
Open either the ComputerTemplate.csv or the MobileDeviceTemplate.csv. This guide will use the computer one.
Once opened we will want to fill out the following fields:
Computer Serial (Required)
Set this to a serial we don't care about or to a test machine. The User assigned will change in the process so anything scoped using the user and location information may change
You will also want to copy and repeat the same serial number for each row
Username (Required)
Real Name (Optional)
Email Address (required)
Phone Number (optional)
Once the csv is ready save the file.
Back in the MUT select Browser for Filled Out CSV.
Find the csv file we just created and select Open.
At this point we will want to confirm all of the fields are matching up properly.
Once everything has been confirmed we will select Submit Updates.
This part may take a few minutes depending on the number of users being created. You'll see the progress bar at the bottom.
We should then see an Updates complete. See MUT.log for details message at the bottom.
We will then want to log into Jamf Pro, navigate to the Users tab and confirm if the users are showing up.
Troubleshooting
If the users are not showing up in Jamf Pro under Users > Search Users > Search, we will want to review the MUT.log file (usually in ~/Downloads/MUT Templates/MUT.log).
