Return to Service Functionality with Jamf Pro

Description

In iOS and iPadOS 17, Apple introduced the Return to Service feature, which allows for devices to be setup/enrolled again without a user selecting the language, region and most importantly WiFi during the Setup Assistant. Jamf Pro can utilize this functionality either through the API or the Return to Service app to prompt devices to automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi after erasure and then re-enroll.

Understanding Return to Service with Jamf Pro

Notes:

  • It is stated in the Return to Service App admin guide's Terms of Use, that this is not a Jamf Product and isn't supported via typical Jamf Support Channels. However, we should do our best to meet the customer where they are at in using this tool.

  • When this feature was initially released, it required an engagement with the CSE team to get access to the app and set it up in Jamf Pro. This is no longer required.
