Issue Description
Looking at a device record under iPad and iPhone Apps, individual apps show "Installation Failed. Volume Purchasing server token is revoked."
The most common causes for this error are:
The token is in use by another MDM.
The Apple ID password used for Apple Business Manager was changed after the token was originally uploaded into Jamf Now.
Troubleshooting Steps
Regardless of the reason for the token being revoked, to resolve the error and successfully install Volume Purchasing apps on enrolled devices:
Renew the Volume Purchasing token following the steps in the Jamf Now Documentation.
Redeploy the apps following one of the options below:
If only a few devices are impacted, re-install the apps from the device records individually:
Click Devices and click on an impacted device to open the device record.
Go to iPad & iPhone Apps.
Click ... for an app displaying the error and choose Install on device.
If all the devices on the blueprint are impacted, remove/re-add the app to the blueprint:
Click Blueprints and click on an impacted Blueprint.
Click Apps.
Click ... for the app on the far right and choose Remove.
Note this will uninstall the app from any devices on the blueprint that have the app installed and managed.
If only some devices on the blueprint are impacted and you don't want to uninstall the app from all devices:
Follow the steps in How to make a blueprint swap in Jamf Now to make a blueprint that contains the same restrictions but does not have the apps we are trying to install.
Be aware that if the blueprint deployed Email settings that the device user will be prompted for their account password to authenticate again.
Switch the impacted devices to this new blueprint.
Switch the devices over to the original blueprint which will initiate and app install command for apps on the original blueprint that weren't on the new/swapped blueprint.
