Using The Patch Management Update Deadline

It is possible to add an update deadline to a patch management patch policy.

Adding an Update Deadline to a Patch Policy

  1. In Jamf Pro, go to Computers > Patch Management.

  2. Click on the Application Title needed.

  3. Click on Patch Policies.

  4. Click on existing patch policy or create a new one.

    1. For a new patch policy, fill out the General payload.

  5. Click on User Interaction.

  6. Click on Edit.

  7. Check Enable Self Service update deadline.

  8. Enter a value of days for the update deadline and minutes for grace period duration.

  9. Edit the Message if desired.

  10. Click Scope and add desired computers or computer groups.

  11. Click Save.


The deadline will start on the patch policy as soon as the device becomes in scope of it. This means patch management needs to run its calculation service to determine the application version on the machine and device needs to be in scope. Issues with any of the patch management services will delay start of update deadline.
