App name not found when creating iOS Safelist/Blocklist profile in Jamf School

Updated over 2 months ago

Description

Sometimes when trying to adding an app to a Safelist or Blocklist profile for iOS devices in Jamf School, the specific app does not appear when you search for it in the 'Search the AppStore' tab.

When this occurs we can use the app ID instead to find the app.

Adding Apps to a Safelist/Blocklist profile with App ID

  1. In a web browser outside of your Jamf School session, search the App Store to find the app preview record. In this article we will use Jamf Parent as the example.

  2. Open the app preview record in your browser and look at the URL. For this example the URL is https://apps.apple.com/us/app/jamf-parent/id1458797105.

This image shows the App Store Preview record for Jamf Parent. The URL shows the ID needed for the safelist profile.

  3. The ID in the URL is the ID you can use on the Search the AppStore tab in the profile.

This image shows part of the safelist profile in Jamf school. Instead of adding an app using the name, you can add an ID in the Search the AppStore tab.
