Installing One Drive, Jamf Now shows "Installing on device..." but the Mac has it installed

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Description

In rare cases Microsoft One Drive may be deployed to managed Macs and is being used by the end user, but in Jamf Now One Drive will be stuck showing "Installing on device..." forever.

This occurs when the Mac user already downloaded the One Drive .pkg and installed it before the Volume Purchasing licenses version of One Drive were deployed. These apps have different bundle ids and macOS will not install two versions of the same app, even when the versions have different bundle IDs.

Getting One Drive installed via Jamf Now

  1. Remove the manually installed .pkg version of One Drive.

  2. Once removed, the Mac should install the Mac App Store version of One Drive.

    • If it does not, then in Jamf Now remove One Drive and reinstall it.
