Creating a Smart Computer Group to Target Devices with an installed PPPC Profile

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Description

Privacy Preferences Policy Control (PPPC) profiles must be installed on devices before deploying the app. By creating a smart computer group to filter devices with the profile installed, we can ensure the app is deployed only after the profile is in place.

Prerequisite: Have a PPPC profile configured. If assistance is needed for the PPPC profile creation, please review Configuring Privacy Preferences Policy Control with PPPC Utility.

Installing Privacy Preferences Policy Control Profile

  1. Make a note of the PPPC profile display name that has been configured. In this example, we will use "Terminal PPPC" as the display name.

  2. In Jamf Pro, navigate to Computers > Smart Computer Groups > +New.

  3. Give the group a display name. Example: Terminal PPPC profile present.

  4. Click Criteria and click +Add.

  5. Click Show advanced criteria.

  6. Locate Profile Name and click choose.

    1. Under Operator, select has.

    2. To populate the value, click the ellipsis icon & select the profile name. We can also manually enter the profile display name under the value, but it's important to ensure that the profile name matches exactly.

    3. Please note: If the configuration profile name is not listed, the profile is likely not installed on a managed device yet.

  7. Click Save.

We can now use the Smart Computer Group "Terminal PPPC Profile Present" to scope policies and other configurations.
