What is a Jamf School Placeholder?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Description

You can create a placeholder for a device that is not yet enrolled in Jamf School. It contains information about that device, such as name, static groups, assigned user, etc. that will apply to the device once it enrolls.

Placeholders can also be used to update already enrolled device records by selecting the box to Apply properties from this CSV to already enrolled devices.

Image shows the import placeholders from CSV option in Jamf School and calls out the apply properties from this CSV to already enrolled devices option.

Individual placeholder records can be created, or if you have many placeholders to create you can also use the bulk import tool (Organization > Import/Synchronize) to upload a .csv file with the usernames and Serial Numbers.
